Dr. LaNika L. Wright is the Associate Vice Chancellor of Health and Well-Being at East Carolina University, a role she has held since July 2022. In this position, Dr. Wright is dedicated to advancing the university’s commitment to holistic health and enhancing the overall student experience through strategic planning and collaboration across various departments.

Before stepping into her current role, Dr. Wright accumulated a wealth of experience as a staff provider, sexual assault nurse examiner, and Director of ECU Student Health Services. Her multifaceted background equips her with a deep understanding of both individual and community health needs, allowing her to champion Whole Person care effectively.

Dr. Wright’s academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from East Tennessee State University, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She earned her PhD in Nursing from East Carolina University.

Her special interests include Whole Person care, Health Promotion and Prevention, strategic planning, and leadership development. Dr. Wright is passionate about working directly with students and student groups, providing patient care, and collaborating with various departments to enhance the student experience. Her innovative approach and leadership are pivotal in shaping programs and initiatives that promote student well-being.

Outside of her professional commitments, Dr. Wright enjoys shopping, traveling, spending time with her family and church family.  Her dedication to both her field and her community reflects her holistic approach to health and well-being.
